Yesterday & Today

I thought I couldn't post a pic yesterday due to blogger whatever, but apparently I could. Sometimes it's like that. I have fixed some of the settings on my camera (yay!) so hopefully the pics are somewhat better. The only downside is I take pics in the a.m. when I'm feeling less than sexy, so my face has been looking... um... interesting. But the outfits are cool nonetheless.

My great find of today was another thrift store (with a cute name of Gold Diggers) not to far from my house. It's towards the beginning of a somewhat sketchy area, but the displays in the window were really cool and nice, so I'm sure there are treasures a-plenty to be found there, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

This outfit made me feel like 4th grade all over again. I love patent leather with tights. I now must have some burgandy stilleto Mary Janes.

Well, my camera looks better, but I look... um... pregnant. Not the best angle, I suppose. lol... One of these days my pictures will start to become amazing. If only my photographers (9 year-old son and hubby) could get with the program! lol...

I think this shirt is very cute, but probably not good for bloated days. I'm still convinced the camera adds 10 lbs. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Boredom & Other Pics

Me and my girls in Vegas... This was my FAVORITE outfit. The dress is American Apparel, footless tights Spanx, ankle boots eBay, belt Forever 21.

Ok, hmm... what else can I find?

Me with a bob and my menage a trois tank that reads "we put the lipstick on your dipstick," but no one ever seems to notice. Still makes me smile everytime I wear it though. lol.. My bob was so cute. Maybe I should go back to it... whatcha think?

The Headless Honey

For some reason I couldn't get my 9 year-old to take a good pic this morning -- go figure. lol... So, my face looks horrific, but still wanted to capture the ensemble.

I'm wearing a Forever 21 dress over Prefontaine cords that are adorable on their own. It was cold and wet and the dress is way too thin for cold and wet. All in all, a very okay outfit but nothing overly special and the layers of the shirt over the other shirt kept bunching up.

So, I was forced to go to Revival, which is a thrift store near my house to get more for my wardrobe! lol... I got a cute vintage dress/top for $12 and three pairs of "silver" hoop earrings for $5. Tonight I get 2 pairs of shoes from Forever 21 online! Woo hoo!

Anyway, here is the outfit... please don't laugh...
dress: Forever 21 -- $8 on sale
pink shirt: H&M
white shirt: borrowed (thanks Fiesty)

All Dressed Up & Jury Duty to Go

Talk about a waste of a good outfit and the words "jury" and "duty" will fly out my mouth. This morning I realized I had jury duty. I was already all dressed and ready for work and, instead, got to spend the day sitting and waiting and doing nothing but wishing I was somewhere else -- even work would have done.

I think that the Corel picture program on this computer sucks. I look at today's picture and think that, just like with the first post, it really does not capture how stylicious my outfit was. I am going to have to try something else and make sure the settings on my camera work better or something. And I swear I look 10 lbs heavier...
Any who, the outfit... the skirt is a linen... you can't really tell in the pic, but the back is much longer than the front and also has a split. My mom got it for me in Italy for like 8 Euros and I get compliments on it everytime I wear it and today was no exception. Why didn't I think to take a picture of the back? And the shoes are open toed and forrest green and black faux alligator skin, but even I can't tell with the crappy picture. *sigh* They will get better, I promise!!
I saw a classmate from highschool who kept telling me, "You looking GREAT! I mean, you look so good! Wow, you look so nice!" That was a great feeling considering I spent the day halfway sleeping in a chair. I think my style mojo is working! I am excited about figuring out tomorrow's ensemble -- thank you all you street fashion bloggers for inspiring me to get back on the bandwagon! Fashion is fun!

Fashion, Blogs & Thrift Stores

This is my first post -- yippie!! I have been inspired by some of the many fashion blogs and decided to start my own to chronicle my stylicous awakening. I've always dressed "cute" by most standards, but always played it safe. In 6th grade my favorite outfit was a man's suit jacket and matching vest (both navy blue), a white tee-shirt, jeans and Converse -- too chic for an 11 year-old! lol... I was cute in that outfit and unique. Fashion was fun. I want that feeling back again. I miss my Converse and so the journey (and this blog) begins...

Last night we went out to celebrate one of my bestfriend , Fiesty's, birthday. My first attempt at a cute outfit involed a super short jean mini-skirt and everything else I ended up wearing. The skirt didn't work, but I came up with an outfit my mom described as "cute and quirky" (um... has quirky ever been a compliment? lol..) and my BF described as "cute hooker wear," which was totally a compliment coming from her. She always scolds me about complaning that I never have anything to wear and asked if I had that sitting in my closet. The skirt I had only worn once four years ago. Wonder what other treasures I have hiding in there?

The top is new-to-me thanks to a thrifting expidition with my maman. I got some 7 Jeans that fit very well in dark denim for $18, an Elie Tahari top for $5 and the top pictured for $5. I had forgotten how rockin' thrifting can be. Some may not understand thrifting or wearing vintage stuff and really it's their loss. My goal for the month is to discover more of the chic thrift and consignment shops in the city that I have never visited and to, hopefully, come out with new treasures! But back to that night (pictured)...
You can't see the detail of the skirt in the picture, but it's a two tiered light cotton skirt with lace trim. Very little house on the prarie. The boots have a fringe on the back which kept dragging on the gross club floor. (Yes, it's taken in the bathroom. Sorry. And the photographer was drunk, but what can ya do? I wanted to have a pic!)

I'm really sorry the pictures don't do the outfit any justice. I felt quite cute and dare I say quirky?
